2019
Founded by two brothers
The Victorian Candle Co. began in 2019 when brothers Aidan (21) and Ru Blackett (17) started making candles as a hobby that quickly grew into something more meaningful.
What began in their parent's kitchen soon became a quiet obsession with fragrance, quality and doing things properly.
Friends and family were the first to notice - not just the scents, but the care that went into every candle.

Inspired by Craft
Inspired by Victorian era literature, artwork and British craftsmanship, the brothers launched their first collection online in 2019.
The name The Victorian Candle Co. was chosen to reflect a belief in timeless design, careful making, and products built to last.
As demand grew locally, candles were poured day and night to keep up - each one made by hand, with attention to detail and pride in the process.
2020
Growing locally
Encouraged by online sales, the business moved beyond the kitchen and into local markets across Cumbria. These early days were spent meeting customers face-to-face, sharing the story behind the candles, and learning what people really valued in home fragrance.
It was here that the brand's foundations were set: strong fragrances, clean burns and candles people returned for again and again.
2020
From kitchen to workshop
As the business grew, local gift shops, florists and cathedrals began approaching The Victorian Candle Co. to stock the range. With production outgrowing the kitchen, the decision was made to move into a dedicated office in the centre of Carlisle.
This marked a turning point - allowing the business to scale thoughtfuly, improve consistency and continue building a reputation for quality British-made candles.

Today
Today, The Victorian Candle Co. continues to craft candles in Cumbria, supplying customers, independent retailers and heritage locations around the UK. While the business has grown, the original values remain unchanged: careful craftsmanship, timeless design and products made properly.
